Question: Does CPStencils do the painting?

Answer: No. CPStencils provides only the stencil or template that you use to apply the games yourselves. The stencils are very easy to use and are shipped with detailed instructions, a list of painting materials needed, and considerations for proper placement of the activity as well as game instructions.

Question: What kind of paint is used to apply the activities?

Answer: Typically, only an exterior latex paint is used as it comes in a variety of colors and is readily found in local or chain hardware stores. Please check with your local hardware store representative that can provide you with a more specific recommendation suited to your locale.

Question: What kind of pavement can the stencils be applied upon?

Answer: The stencils and latex paint works best on asphalt pavement, otherwise known as “blacktop”. There are paints that work specifically on concrete surfaces and can be determined by asking your local hardware store representative. In any situation, it is important that your pavement is relatively flat, free of large cracks, clean with no oil or other residue, dry and has cured for at least one year.

Question: When is the best time to apply the stencils?

Answer: That depends upon your location but as a general rule of thumb follow typical painting recommendations - dry and warm/cool. Extremely hot, cold or freezing conditions are not recommended at all. Application during humid, rainy or any precipitous weather or immediately following humid, rainy or precipitous weather should not be performed. Specific guidelines located on the paint cans should be followed.

Question: How long will the painted activities last on the pavement?

Answer: This question is common but difficult to exactly answer. The expected life of any paint applied to a floor surface is largely dependent upon the amount of foot traffic it receives. Paint used on pavement surfaces is particularly susceptible to wear from the sun, snow, excessive rain, shoveling, and dirt and there are many other factors that would affect the life of the paint. So depending upon your location, use, number of coats, pavement condition and the weather conditions as it was applied, the paint will eventually fade gradually over the years. What is exceptional about CPStencils products is that you keep the stencils on-site and can re-use them for re-painting when necessary.

Question: How much paint will I need?

Answer: A CPStencils representative can provide you with an estimate you take to the paint store. Contact us by phone or e-mail, stating what stencils you wish to purchase and how many times you plan to apply each one, and we will prepare a custom estimate listing the paint color and amount of paint you may need.

Question: What is included in my purchase?

Answer: In addition to your stencils, you will receive a customized folder containing fully illustrated application instructions, considerations for placing your stencils, a game ideas brochure and handling instructions.
